Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American British musician and sitarist. She was the youngest and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she has had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian of Indian descent to perform live and to serve as a presenter at the ceremony. Anoushka shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She is the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Her birthplace was in London in 1982 and began her life by hopping back and forth from London as well as New Delhi. Her first performance took place in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. After moving to Encinitas, California in 1999, she was awarded the high-school diploma. Although she is still very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording career. Since quite some time, she has been performing regularly with her father. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was titled the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year later. Since she's performed at all the major stages in the world, her stage career has been extensive. Anoushka Shankar's career is not limited to the music industry. Bapi the The Love of My Live, a picture-biography that is written in tribute to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. She's also appeared in. in the 2003 movie Dance Like a Man, in which she played the role of a Bharat dancer in the form of a young girl. Her career continues to grow and she is expected to achieve great success in the near future. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of traveling between London and Delhi in her early years. Then, she relocated to California to finish high school. When she was 9 she began her studies in music alongside her father. The first time she performed on the sitar came during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka gained numerous valuable experience by accompanying her dad on his world tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, as well as recording with George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
